The 2019-2020 Maine Student Book Award list is out.  It features 40 books selected by a committee of librarians and teachers that are then voted on by students from all over the state.  Students will read the books and discuss them over the fall and winter and vote next spring. The winners are announced every year at a conference of youth librarians.  Last year’s winner was just announced, and Refugee by Alan Gratz won with 562 votes. In second place was Restart by Gordon Korman. Our library has a number of MSBA books, from past years lists and from this upcoming year’s list.  You can look for books (most of them live in the juvenile fiction section) with an MSBA sticker on the label.

You can also find them on the Cloudlibrary. They have their own featured shelf.

For more information on the book award and for access to the list and winners from years past, go the MSBA website.

There are some great books on this year’s list.  It features fantasy, humor, historical fiction, graphic novels, nonfiction, and more! Come check some out today!
