Do you enjoy making up stories—creating your own worlds and characters? Whether you enjoy writing scary stories, mysteries, or fantasy, let loose your imagination and create!

November is National Novel Writing Month, and Walker Memorial Library is going to host a Young Writers Program (YWP) for kids grades 3 to 12. We’ll help explain the basics of writing a novel, how to create awesome characters and an interesting plot. Best of all, we’ll provide a quiet place to meet up, bounce ideas around, and get actual writing done.

We will provide paper and writing tools, all you need to bring is yourself and your ideas. If you don’t have any ideas, we will provide stuff to help you brainstorm.

The National Novel Writing Month YWP meets several Common Core literacy standards for grades 3-12, including describing characters and settings, planning a story, and doing actual writing.
